The White Rose

Had a lunch out at the White Rose pub in Leeming near Northallerton in Yorkshire.

The pub itself was nice, clean with tiled floors and looked like it had been recently refurbished with lots of white paint that is uncommon in pubs, particularly in Yorkshire, and there was a nice set up with the bar facing all of the seating in the pubs open layout.

The Atmosphere in the pub was sort of empty when we arrived but it was probably the calm after the relative storm of the lunch time business, but even so it was a sort of bring your own atmosphere feel to it.

The service there was good, but I feel that the service might have been different if we had been earlier and the lunch time rush had been around but for eight people the service took about 20 minutes which isn't bad, I have experienced worse...Alot worse!

Now for the pinnacle of the matter, the food!  My favourite part, I had the Scampi and chips and it was impressive, the scampi tasted fresh and the breading complimented it well, the chips were lightly seasoned and were nice and big and as a bonus there was a lot of them! there was a surprise with the mushy peas (yes I like them, so what?) they were mixed with a dose of mint which was very good and a nice surprise which wasn't actually in the menu specifically but a "surprise" was listed with the peas.

On the whole it was a good meal with good nice service but there is a feeling while thinking of what to write that because we were there after lunchtime trade that it's like saying a tornado isn't bad because you were in a strong wind one day on the way to the shops to buy some milk.
